Adding English Number Words

A generator of addition problems where every number is an English word. A problem reads, for example, “twenty plus thirteen” and the child writes the answer in words too: “thirty-three”. Two numbers from 1 to 98 are added and the sum never goes over 99.

On the website you place the problems on an open-answer sheet, for example a short test or a maths trail. They also go on cards with the problem on one part and the answer on the other. The task practises reading and spelling English number words, including the hyphen in numbers such as forty-five. Every time you generate, you get new problems.

It suits children learning English as a foreign language who know the numbers up to 100 and need to spell them.
