Addition in Words
A generator of addition problems written in words. Instead of 7 + 5 = children read “the sum of 7 and 5”, “7 increased by 5”, “7 more than 5” or “7 and 5 together”. Choose the range, up to 5, 10, 20, 100, 1000 or a million, and for some ranges whether the problems cross the ten. Another version adds two numbers up to 100.
On the website you place the problems on a worksheet and add an answer key if you like. They also go on game cards such as memory or dominoes with the words and the answer, or into multiple-choice questions. Every time you generate, you get new problems.
It suits children from Year 2 (1st grade). Phrases such as “3 more than” and “increased by 3” are needed for word problems. The problems are written in Czech.
