Counting in Multiples
The multiples of one number in the right order. Choose a number from 2 to 10 and the list holds its multiples from 0 up to ten times the number, for example 0, 7, 14, 21 up to 70, which makes 11 numbers.
On the website you place the list into materials where children put items in order: on a string, in a word chain, in a sequencing puzzle, in a dot-to-dot or in a self-checking frame. The items are printed shuffled and the child arranges them in the right order. Along the way children count in steps aloud or in their head and link each times-table answer to its place in the sequence.
It suits children in Years 3 and 4 (2nd and 3rd grade) learning the times tables one at a time. Ordering the multiples is good practice before children recall single facts.
