Order of Czech Parts of Speech

Elementary individually · in pairs print prep 2–5 minFREECzechfree

A list of the ten parts of speech in the order in which they are numbered in Czech grammar: nouns, adjectives, pronouns, numerals, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, particles and interjections. The second version uses the Latin names, from substantiva to interjekce.

On the website you place the list into materials where children put items in order: on a string, in a word chain, in a sequencing puzzle, in a dot-to-dot or in a self-checking frame. The items are printed shuffled and the child arranges them in the right order. The order matters because Czech schools label the parts of speech with the numbers 1 to 10.

It suits Czech-speaking children from Year 4 (3rd grade), when they learn the parts of speech, and older pupils revising. The Latin names suit older pupils and language learners.
