Czech Spelling: u, ú or ů

Elementary individually · in pairs print prep 2–5 minFREECzechsortingfree

A set of 411 Czech words with a missing u, ú or ů, for example “ko_zelný”, “_nava” or “zp_sobený”. The child decides which letter belongs in the gap and puts the word in one of three groups. Each group has 137 words, so all three letters come up equally often.

On the website you place the items into a sorting table where the child splits them into columns, onto a worksheet or into multiple-choice questions. Every time you generate, different items come in a different order.

It suits Czech-speaking children from Year 3 (2nd grade), when they learn to write ú at the start of a word and ů in the middle and at the end, and revision in lower secondary school.
