Long Multiplication Problems
Elementary individually · in pairs print prep 2–5 minFREEMathematicsmultiplicationfree
A generator of long multiplication problems. Choose how many digits the first factor has (2 to 7) and the second (1 to 4). Three digits by two digits gives problems such as 348 · 27 = 9396. The numbers are random, so the problems include zeros in the middle and carrying.
On the website you place the problems on a worksheet. The layout with lines for working or the spacious layout leaves room for the column method. You can add an answer key to the sheet. Every time you generate, you get new problems, so children cannot copy answers from a neighbour.
It suits children in Years 5 and 6 (4th and 5th grade) learning to multiply by one- and two-digit numbers, and older pupils revising.
