Percentage of a Number

A generator of problems on finding a percentage of a number, for example 30 % of 200 = 60. Choose which percentages appear: only tens from 10 to 90 %, common values up to 120 % (1, 5, 25, 75 % and more), or also 150 to 500 %. At three levels of difficulty the base number grows. The numbers are chosen so that the answer is always a whole number.

On the website you place the problems on a worksheet in columns or with lines for working, and add an answer key if you like. They also go on game cards or into multiple-choice questions. Every time you generate, you get new problems.

It suits pupils in Years 8 and 9 (7th and 8th grade) learning percentages. Start with tens of per cent, when pupils work through one per cent or one tenth.
