Pythagoras’ Theorem Problems
A generator of word problems on Pythagoras’ theorem in two versions. In the first, both legs are given and the pupil calculates the hypotenuse, for example “A right triangle has legs of 6 cm and 8 cm. How long is the hypotenuse?” In the second, one leg and the hypotenuse are given and the pupil finds the other leg. The sides come from ten Pythagorean triples, such as 3, 4, 5 or 20, 21, 29, so the answer is always a whole number. The units are mm, cm, dm, m or km.
On the website you place the problems on an open-answer sheet, for example a short test or a maths trail. They also go on cards with the problem and the answer. Every time you generate, you get new problems.
It suits pupils in Year 9 (8th grade) learning the theorem and revising for exams. The problems are written in Czech.
