A generator of numbers written in Roman numerals. The child reads a Roman numeral, for example XIV, and writes it in ordinary digits: 14. Choose the range, up to 20, 100, 1000, or 2000, which brings in years such as MCMXC.
On the website you place the numerals on a worksheet and add an answer key if you like. They work well on game cards such as memory or dominoes, where children match a Roman numeral to a number. Multiple-choice questions are another option, and they catch children who mix up IV and VI. Every time you generate, you get new numbers.
It suits children from Year 4 (3rd grade) who meet Roman numerals on clocks and in books. The range up to 2000 fits history lessons and dates.
