Surface Area of Cubes and Spheres

Middle individually print prep 2–5 minFREEMathematicsgeometrysurface areafree

A generator of word problems on the surface area of a cube and a sphere. In a forward problem the side or radius is given and the pupil calculates the surface area, for example “A sphere has a radius of 3 cm. What is its surface area?” with the answer 36π cm². In a reverse problem the surface area is given and the pupil finds the side or radius. Cube sides are from 1 to 20, sphere radii from 1 to 9, and the units are mm, cm, dm, m or km. The cube’s surface area is 6a².

On the website you place the problems on an open-answer sheet, for example a short test or a maths trail. They also go on cards with the problem and the answer. Every time you generate, you get new problems.

It suits pupils in Years 8 to 10 (7th to 9th grade). The problems are written in Czech.
