Unit Conversion Problems
A generator of unit conversion problems where the child works out and writes the answer. A problem reads, for example, “3 m = ? cm” and the answer is 300 cm. Choose the quantity: length, area, volume, mass, time, physical quantities with prefixes (force, energy, power, pressure, voltage, current, resistance), or US customary units of length, volume and mass such as inches, miles and gallons. The number in the problem is 1, a whole number up to 10, or a decimal. You also choose whether the problem names the target unit.
On the website you place the problems on an open-answer sheet, for example a short test or a maths trail, or on cards with the problem and the answer. Every time you generate, you get new problems.
It suits children from Year 5 (4th grade) for length and mass, and lower secondary pupils for area, volume and physics units.
